The source of his inspiration for the installation was the shipyards of Saint Nazaire in western France, the birthplace of some of the world’s largest cruise ships. Writers Nicolas de Oliveira and Nicola Oxley were invited to produce a work of fiction for the project.
The medium-length film ‘Sea of Tranquillity’ is a combination of live video recordings of actors and digitally-generated 3D environments in which the viewer makes a night-time visit to a mysterious, mythical cruise liner, the ‘Sea of Tranquillity’.
