The body is nicely contoured without losing the pleasantly traditional Fender shape. Later, I bought my first bass and played semi-pro from about ’68 through ’79 when I quit music entirely. I’ve been playing music since when I was drafted into my HS orchestra. I like the idea of this bass a lot and part of that is probably sentimental value so this one might be a candidate for a pickup change, and I am thinking of going with a set of EMGs.

These models were made from to , and were some of the last Aria instruments that were made in Japan before production moved to Korea. I am pretty sure that all of the XRB basses came with alder bodies, but this one is unique and I have never seen one with the figured maple top and back before. The other toggle switch changes the electronics from active mode to passive mode, though there is no real benefit to this as the tone is about the same in either setting, though it would be handy if the pre-amp battery happens to go dead at the most inopportune time. This bass has a full sound that can be bassy and warm or have that trebly active sound for slap or pop techniques. Maybe the pre-amp is crapping out on me… My favorite part of this Aria bass is the neck, which is eerily similar to the one on the Fender Jazz Bass Specials. This Buy it now listing has ended.

I bought it as a fix-up project and I had fun with it; the fact that it sounds decent is just a plus and I like the active sound but dislike the noisy electrics. The controls include a master volume control that can actually be clicked to an off positiona tone knob, and a blend xgb with a center detent. I am pretty sure that all of the XRB basses came with alder bodies, but this one is unique and I have never seen one with the figured maple top and back before.

September 21, to November 7, The body is loaded up with a set of Aria P and J xfb that are powered by a 9-volt preamp. They are very nice priced, are low noise and set the bass years ahead. The blend knob seems like overkill as there is also a serries pickup selector switch. I mostly use this through a little practice amp but I have an Acoustic that I use at times for a bit more sound and to disturb the neighbors. If you remember the mid serids late s, there was a lot of metal music floating around, and everybody knew that if you wanted to bang heads, you needed a pointy headstock on your guitar. There is clear glossy poly sprayed on the back of the maple neck, and the rosewood sedies has 21 frets with tiny dot markers for some reason the marker for the 21st is missing.

This bass delivers exactly that and more: I mostly play old ’50 – ’70s type stuff at home; I played about 10 years in various bands from aroa late ’60 to the late ’70s and I gauge the sounds of any bass against the old Fender Teles I still have.

The condition of this XRB-2A bass is amazing, and there is almost no wear and the only blemish is a prk cracking in the veneer around the output jack. Got back into fiddling with my old Fender basses a few years ago and have acquired several more basses and more than a few guitars and amps, too.

Later, I bought my first bass and played semi-pro from about ’68 through ’79 when I quit music entirely. It’s gig and roadworthy but the wise musician always carries a backup as sometimes the unlikeliest things can occur.

In short, it’s very versatile though limited in the range of sounds but the buzz is obnoxious. Zeries seems like a reliable bass as any previous owners treated it with little care and it’s back in playing form again.

The bass plays well, but it sounds kind of meh. This item will be sent through the Global Shipping Programme and includes international tracking.
